Design Goals

1. Realistic Surgical Experience

  • The simulator was modeled using a CT scan of a real human chest to replicate the anatomy accurately.
  • Carefully selected materials simulate the properties of lung parenchyma and internal structures, providing a realistic feel of VATS surgery.

2. Hierarchical Training Approach

  • Complex learning objectives were broken down into a series of simplified, repetitive exercises with progressively increasing difficulty.
  • This approach ensures structured and effective skill development.

3. Modular Design

  • The modular structure supports the addition of new training modules, enabling the simulator to grow and adapt with the evolving training curriculum.

Supply

The VATS Simulator is packaged in a transport box with wound retractors pre-mounted at standard locations, as illustrated in the picture below.

3.0 aug 2019 Reduced length. Redesigned central insert plug-in hole with a flexible diaphragm. Added serial number placard on the bottom side.

2.0 aug 2017 Fully manufactured from solid polyurethane plastic.1.0 sep 2016 Polyurethane foam based unit with a rigid diaphragm and a single component cover.
